Driving from Taman Negara to Kota Bharu

Whoa, you're in for a long drive. I'd say give it at least 6-7 hrs if you can drive fast and not bump into some chickens, cows or slow lorries along the way. You will pass Kuala Lipis, Merapoh, Gua Musang, Jeli, Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas. Come to think of it, l'd revise it to 8-9 hrs or so. It's rural roads, Malay signage, you've to slow down to 60kmph in village areas and zero English-speaking population. You gotta be very careful with children, goats and vehicles that hurl across your path without warning. Some parts are littered with cow poops.

We did this stretch with taxi (!) a few years back. The roads where over-all good, the driving pretty smooth. I think we used something like 6-7 hours, with a short lunchbreak and some shorter stops for filling gas and bunkering food. We came to Kota Barhu before dark, and we did the boat-ride down to Tembeling before starting our drive, so it wasn't early morning, maybe around 12 when we started... so I think that should be pretty acurat.

We did Kota Bharu to Kuala Lipis in 6 hours - three weeks ago. Road is good, and traffic light, except around Kota Bharu. I wouldn't attempt it at night!!!!
