Hi. We're planning to travel around in Sabah for one week in August. Is there a possibility to go diving in Sipadan or Kapalai on a day-trip-base? Which are the best diving-providers and are there any vacancies at all? Where do we have to start from? Semporna? Is it easier to book in advance from home or am I better of to do it there?
Thanks a lot

It is definitely possible to have a day dive trip in Sipadan which will usually consists of 3 dives per day. You can try Scuba Junkie in Semporna. This is one of the better established dive centre there. The dive usually will start early morning, say if you wanna watch the school of bumpheads sleeping. So it will be pretty advisable to stay a day in Semporna. I recommend Lee Cafe, a comfy place with air con and hot water shower for only RM40 a day. You will like to book the diving trip in advance cause i heard that one will need to apply with the island rangers of Sipadan to gain the entry. Succeful application will cost you RM40

If yo dive with Scuba Junkie- book yourself at their hostel, clean, free internet incl. breakfast.
We went to Sipadan with the Reef divers - great company, firendly, organizes, good price www.thereefdivers.com check them out
