Before I decided to go for a quick backpacking trip to Kota Kinabalu and Brunei, I was looking for a cheaper way of climbing Mt. Kinabalu. If you go to the internet, it seems that the lowest price you can get is around RM900.00 (or even more if you're alone in the group). If you're not willing to spend this much money for a 2-day climb, I'd suggest that you contact Jungle Jack Backpacker Hostel.
It's a homestay kind-of accommodation but your experience won't be less compared to the expensive ones. I paid RM580.00 for the 2-day 1-night climb in Mt. Kinabalu including 2 nights stay in the hostel. This includes the food, transportation and a comfortable bed, not to mention the homey experience. I wrote a post about my stay in this hostel, you can read here: Climbing Mt. Kinabalu On A Budget (shameless plug!)
I'm sure you're going to enjoy your climb with Uncle Jack! :)
