Hi All,

I just booked a flight with my girlfriend to Kuala Lumpur.
For me it was the best price/quality flight I could do. (for a flight from Europe to Asia)
We will arrive 13-02-2015 and leave 23-02.

Now I've seen about a few hundred hotel ads and reviews.
Price range from 3$ to 500$ per night.
It's crazy to find a good hotel without having local knowledge.

We are like just any other "regular" tourists :-) We like the sea/beach (and swiming), have some massage/Spa, see some great nature, jungle, lakes, rivers etc.
We also like good food.

And like all tourists, we do have some money, but we don't want to spend it (all) :P

Can you please give a suggestion where to start, if we like to see what we want?
I tried to get some info, and to me it looks like PAHANG is the best place to go to.

I don't like to spend more then 100 MYR per day for a hotel/resort/home stay.

Tips and advices are welcome!!

First the 'bad' news, you will be here during Chinese New Year which is a major holiday and it will be a nightmare travelling, getting transport and hotels etc.
You only have 10 days. Assuming you want to stay on the peninsula and not go to east Malaysia.......For nature best place is Taman Negara. Best beaches are on east coast, preferably the islands. Yes Pahang would be a good choice.
Lots of places for massage/spa in kl, but they are not cheap.

If you're considering the east coast beaches, then you might want to check the weather first. Could still be monsoonal. And you'll probably need to prebook accommodation especially for places popular with locals. Tamen Negara could be one place.

There is no place in Malaysia which fulfills all your criteria.

First of all spa+massage means a 4 or 5 star establishment, costing much more than your RM 100/day limit. Such places start at RM 300-400/night.

Tioman could be an option, but its beaches are not that great. In my opinion they suck a bit, compared to other beaches in Malaysia:

And end of February is a bit early for the east coast. Some/many places will still be closed.

Anyway, you need to prioritise your criteria, i.e. what is most important, because as I wrote, there is not one place in Malaysia fulfilling all of them.

Hi Alfredm,

Thank's for the beach photo link.
As I saw in the above posts, it's also New Year (19/20-02)
So I guess that period the prices will also be higher :-)

About 12 years ago I was in Thailand. Bangkok is to me a big "stinking" town, and asked to the "locals" where they go to if they want to go away. I ended-up: Hua-Hin.
Much cleaner, calmer, cheaper, (hotel, "White Sand", 9$ per night, about 8 minute walk from the beach) Massage on "every corner" about 250-300 baht for 45-60min. (+/- RM 30).
The beach was not that great (some rocks) but better beaches where closeby.
BUT, that's Thailand.

Now we are going to Malaysia :-)
Tonight we will look at the link for the beaches, and I guess we have to make some choises.

I don't "need" a massage, but it feels nice, and if I can affort it, why not? It all depends on the price, as we all only can spend our money once.

I'll keep you posted.

You could fly to Phuket (cheap 1hr AirAsia flight) and from there find a nice place where to stay. Or does it have to be Malaysia?

Google Tezzas Islands and Beaches. He was a poster here some time ago and could always be relied on to give good info. His web site is the same.

You don't get the cheap beach massages in Malaysia, whereas they are so common in Thailand. In KL there are Thai style massage places in shopping malls such as Mid Valley where you can get massages starting at about RM50+
