I'm sorry to ask again the same question but I started making reservations for my trip to Malaysia in September-October and I'd like to receive some advice about Perhentian islands. I am supposed to be there during the 1st week of October, apparently the weather is still good (LP's guide says this) and monsoon starts in November but I've read in this forum that in early October the weather is bad too.
Some advice? Thanks!

At the moment who knows as it is all over the place. Just had a crazy dry spell where I live in KL. I use the weathernetwork.com as a guide.

We are usually in Redang ( not far from Perhentian) at the same time and the weather is usually good with just the occasional shower which can be heavy but usually not long lasting.
Last year we were a week later than normal and towards the middle of October the first signs of the monsoon winds were blowing and we had to miss some diving ( Berjaya Beach Resort) and they dismantled their floating jetty for the monsoon period.
The hotel shut completely at the end of the month.
As Lizac says the whole world weather is crazy!
We are in Redang from 25th September until 10th October so we hope for plenty of sun and calm seas!
Hope you get the same!

Why does the weather matter? If you were at home it wouldn't alter a function surely. Make the most of it and it's so much easier to be rained on if it's warm. Get out there do what you want to do, even it your hair's wet. Do yourself a favour and run around naked.

#3 it makes a hell of a difference in a tropical climate. Things close!
Run around naked...great idea when the lightening strikes.

No.3.
Running around naked would not go down too well with the Terengannu government officials when holding hands or kissing in public is more or less considered a sin by them!!

Thanks #1 #2 #3 ! Do you think the weather will be better in west coast islands (Langkawi for example) in that time?

Suggest original response as a start. As a very basic rule in the rainy times, if it is dry on the East it is wet on the West coast. If it is not monsoon season it really does not matter as it comes and goes so fast.

Thanks again Lizac! I think I'll go first to the Perhentian and if the weather is rainy, I'll cross to the West coast. Do you think it could be a problem if I don't have any hotel reservation? It will be October...

Well, I begin to understand why many travellers asking about the weather.....pls do understand the weather in a tropical country like Malaysia is not like in Europe...the tropics rain for 1 to 2 hrs or maybe 30 minutes...and you immediately get sun shine...so WHATS THE WEATHER GOT TO DO WITH IT? Take it naturally when you are in the tropical country..you may enjoy it!
