I forgot to mention in my earlier post regarding KL - they have an excellent Hop on-Hop off bus that covers many of the interesting sites in KL and this is a great way to find those locations that interest you and those that are to be passed by. Also the MRT runs very near (4 minute walk) from the main area of Chinatown and is an excellent way to get around the main parts of KL.
Thanks again @nanaimojim!
Some update just one day before go there.
Did wrote some hostels at Perhentians asking for room and Snorkel conditions now. Just one answer me that there are some rain around 6pm or nights, while forecast it's not good for next week.
Some of them told me that are closed (Panorama, Bintang, Mama's...), and some others didn't answer (Senja, D'lagoon, some other, and Fatimah's email was wrong), so I finally booked at Ombak (120 w/fan) as a way to ensure and not to have problems once there.
Also booked train tickets for 10/14 from KL to Gemas arriving at 15:30 (Maybe I can leave my baggage at lockers at station and walk a little outside) and from Gemas to Tanah Merah at 23:30.
Had a lot of doubts about my itinerary, mainly in how to connect east coast with Singapore. Sometimes I think in skip Tioman, but there is too much distance from Terengganu or Cherating to Singapore and I prefer to avoid flights.
Anyway I can decide on the way, but this is my less planified ever trip. :)
Will try to write some reports once there or later after coming back home.
Regards!
Colegota

Anyway, staff in the station were friendly and directed me to a good place to eat and drink. The people there were also helpful, and I expect that they would take care of your luggage and suggest places to see during your long wait.
Tioman is an island, and is not on the way to anywhere. If you are coming along the East Coast going towards Singapore, you will pass through the ports for boats to Tioman, both of which (but specially Mersing) are pleasant places to spend a night and hang out for a while. There are some beach resorts nearby, and you might enjoy one of these.
