Hey all, my air asia flight to KK from KL has been delayed a few hours... I arrive in KL from Johor Bahru at 10:30am and then my flight to KK doesn't leave until 6:30pm. I dont really want to stay at the airport the whole time, is it possible to head into downtown KL and back in time, any reccommendations to kill 4 or 5 hours without too much moving around? Good place to eat and drink maybe? market to explore? It will be on a wednesday, i will spend more time in KL 7 weeks later but just looking for a time filler... in terms of luggage storage at the domesitc airport (air asia) ... is there any????

thanks in advance!

I don't know if this helps much but last year for my one and only time in KL airport, it was truly a madhouse--just like KL itselfL. Seriously hectic and many, many people. The airport is a LONG way from downtown and took me about an hour in a taxi, and that was on the weekend and non rush hour. So you would need to allow at least 2-3 hours to get back and forth. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. The traffic is simply horrendous.

Sorry I can't help you with a place to chill away from the maddening crowds. I did find a coffee shop there, but it was hard to drink without spilling with the crowds nudging you and all. Grit your teeth, dude.

If you are flying into LCCT, there is a bus into KL Sentral, takes more than 1 hr, and costs RM10. Otherwise you can take a taxi for about RM70, which takes about 1 hr.
From KLIA, Airport train takes 30 min, costs RM35, and goes to KL Sentral. From there you could jump on Monorail across the road and go to Bukit Bintang area, OR you could jump on a bus and go to Chinatown.
The airport bus takes 1hr and costs RM10.
A taxi will take about an hour to KL city, cost about RM70.

Get a taxi fromt he taxi counter at the airport and see if oyu can arrange there and then for it to pick you up again at a set time. Go to China Town and have a wander about, its not too busy during the day but still has some stalls, eat some rotis have a tea tarik or iced tea??? I've never had a problem with KL Airport being so busy, rahter the opposite, but l suppose it depends ont eh time of year or even day????

They are talking about the LCCT, which is a totally different experience from the main KL airport.

The main airport is un-crowded and comfortable, and has a 28-minute express train to the city 4 times an hour.

The LCCT is packed to bursting with nervous first-time travelers from the village, bereft of anything to make it interesting, and it takes over an hour to get to town via unpredictable buses or expensive taxis.

They both do have free wifi, so if you have a laptop, you can just post to Thorntree all day.
