Greetings All,
This is my first time in this forum so first - many thanks for the great information! I'll be in Indonesia 15 June, staying for about 4 weeks. I start from Jakarta to Makassar and then on to Palopo for 4 days. After attending a wedding there, I look forward to visiting Bali where I've already arranged lodging for another few days. I would be eternally grateful for any detailed info on the over all safety situation of the Palopo / Tana Toraja area. Mind you - I need no…

Hi all,
We are travelling to Bunaken Island in November and planing on staying at Bastianos resort (Liang Beach). Can anyone advise:
1. Is the beach clean and good for swimming?
2. Is there snorkelling in front of the resort?
We plan to dive but also want to spend some time chilling out on the beach.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone help us. We are on a tight time scale and are arranging flights into Pontianak. We would like to do some walking and see some orangutans in and around this area. We understand that one of the best places to go and easiest to access is Ganug Palung. We have read that there is a speed boat from pontianak to ketapang that takes 6 hours. Does anyone know where we need to take this from and what time it leaves (do we need to book tickets?).
Also is Gunung palung a good pace to visit? We…
Hey!
I'm trying to book some flights in Indonesia, Jakarta-Bandar Lampung on July 25th, Bandar Lampung-Yogyakarta on July 27th, Yogyakarta-Jakarta on July 29th, but I can't find any available flights online! I've checked websites like expedia.ca, travelocity.ca, etc, but I always get messages saying no flights are available. I checked the Adam Air site, and it said all flights are full, even like 5 months from now (i was typing in random dates just to see what it said). Is it possible/easy to…
Hello
Fingers crossed I will be flying in to jakarta next january. Now I know this is bang slap in the middle of the rainy season but how rainy is it? I am planning on spending most of my time in Sumatra before heading on up to Malyasia. I was just wondering whether I should be put off by the rain? I hear that the visibility is so low you can't see anything.
What do people think? Is it still worth a visit?
JAKARTA Hundreds of people fled their homes as massive waves hit coastlines across Indonesia.
The waves, said to be 4-5m (13-16ft) high, caused extensive damage on the island of Bali. At least 100 fishing boats were destroyed and properties near the beach deluged. In the Sukabumi area of West Java scores of residents scrambled inland as floodwaters flowed into a village.
Officials on the island of Sumatra said that a key road had been damaged, disrupting traffic, and that Aceh, the Sumatran town…
Hi all,
We are a couple looking for a nice beach destination to spend four days at. We have narrowed it down to Padangbai and Nusa Lembongan
What do we want?
- The best beaches
- Snorkeling
- Diving
- Nice accommodation for US$40 and under
- Laid back atmosphere
- A few good eating options
- Relaxing
- Easy to get around
Which of these two places do you recommend and can you suggest good accommodation options?
Thanks in advance for helping us plan our holiday.
Hi,
We are a young family with 2 daughters aged 7 and 10. We are planning to travel to Manado/Bunaken in August and intend to stay in that area for a week. Since we are not into diving, it will be mostly beach, snorkelling and jungle trekking (we'd like to spend a day or half day trekking in Tangkoko nature reserve).
So far we've been looking at several accommodations in Bunaken, Siladen, Menado (Santika hotel) and also Pulisan Jungle Beach Resort.
From what we've read on the Internet, Pulisan…
