Hi folks,
We are trying to plan a last minute trip to Bali -- have never been to Indonesia before, and this a a last minute thing, so I would really appreciate any/all suggestions and feedback.
Background:
I will be traveling with hubby and (active) 2 year old. Paying airfare for 3 from US leaves us a on a pretty tight budget. BK (before kids) I traveled solo to SE Asia for 5 weeks, and 3 years ago (while pregnant) traveled with hubby to India, so we should be fine at budget…
Did someone travel to Maluku (Indonesia, Ambon, Banda, Ternate, ...) in 2006 and 2007 ? I'd like to get an update on the political situation/violence there and the feasibility of backpack travel. Thanks, Pierre
Hello Forum,
Does anyone here have any information about the Novotel Nusa Dua(not the Benoa)? I am considering booking their apartments but would like a little more info before making my final decision. There are 8 members of my family going on this trip so the pressure is on me to find accomodation suitable for all age groups ranging from 17 to 66! Is it a good location? Has anyone stayed there? It is apparently a new hotel which is appealing and the accomodation seems spacious and clean…
i am thinking of flying into kuching in september

Jogya .
In late June this year I got a cheap flight from Perth to Sing’p with Tiger, a ferry to Batam, and 2 flights with Lion form there, Jakarta, Jog. The Lions were fine but late both times, 1 and 2 hrs respectively. An airport taxi to the Malioboro area was pretty reasonably priced. I usually manage bargaining fairly well with my…
Divers who have visited Maluku seem to agree that it offers some of the finest diving in Indonesia, but in the past years the only two places with diving facilties have been Ambon and Banda, both in South Maluku, with the latter being very pricey.
I have recently found out about an interesting new possiblity in North Maluku.
The tiny islands of Lelei and Guraici there have the finest beaches and reefs in the province, but during my first visit there (in 2005) they were still totally undeveloped…
Any information about transportation from Solo City to Yogya Airport please.
I know that the Solo City - Yogya City bus passes the road leading to the Yogya Airport but, if memory serves me, I think that the airport itself is too far to walk, especially with luggage.
Are there direct buses from Solo to Jogya airport? What would a taxi cost?
Many thanks
Hello,
My boyfriend and I are arriving into Sumatra on a flight to Medan at 1900 on the 11th September. We're really tight on time but would like to have 4 days there so its important we dont miss the bus. Can we just turn up at the station in the morning and if so which station? Also we dont know where to stay in Medan.

Could someone kindly advise if there is a way to RENT MOTOR BIKES IN PADANG?
I would like to make day trips out of Padang but hate busses and taxis and am too lazy for push bikes. Motor bikes give total freedom but are difficult to rent in Indonesia outside of Bali.
Appreciate any advise on this and the question of licence for foreigners driving bikes in Sumatra.
Thanks to all.
