I'm going to spend 10 months in Indonesia thanks to a scholarship and the place I'll be staying during most of the time is Padang in Sumatra.I have about a week to go and still thinking whether I have all the things I need etc. Do I relly need a rainproof jacket?I'll get wet anyway..Can I get a bike there?Or do I need driving license to ride a motorbike?If someone has any last minute advice (apart from visa,vaccination etc) I'll be really grateful!

I have planned (and booked) a trip to Indonesia and need to apply for a 60 day visa, however I have a drink driving conviction. Will this cause me any major problems with the visa application as I cannot find any information regarding exclusion on the embassy website.

I thought about another trip to Indonesia, having travelling (and flewn around) there quite a few times since 1994 and 2005.
However, all reports about unsafe and unreliable airlines make me worry (and the black lists of course).
How bad is it really e.g. on lesser routes in Nusa Tenggara?
I have even great trouble to find flight schedules!
It is not possible to get to more remote islands without flying (unless you have plenty of time). Thus, choosing another destination?
