Along with a friend I am hiking Gunung Raung in East Java, Aug 9-11. Toughest peak to summit in Java and also the island's widest crater. Spectacular place but demanding hike.
3 spaces still available for anyone interested in joining this not for profit trip.
Note that ropes are required at the top but all equipment is being provided by an experienced local guide.
You would need to get to Kalibaru on 8th Aug.

The distance from the int'l airport to Bukit Lawang about 90 kms, which should be doable the same day. My flight arrives at 1pm. Does anyone know the availability, timing and prices for buses to Bukit Lawang? Thanks in advance. Soo looking forward to Sumatra!

We are backpackers on a budget. Currently in Lembongan.
What budget options are there for travel to Penida to see billabong, broken beach, kelingking beach and snorkle at manta point.
I have got quotes from operators quoting premium prices ($170 - $240).
If I were to take a private boat from yellow bridge and rent a guide, car and snorkelling equipment for 2. What would the costs be? We have decided not to hire a scooter and don't want to take public boat.

I will be hiking up Kelimutu early in the morning in a few weeks (I think about 4AM). Might someone be able to give me a sense of how cold it might be? I'd rather not drag a lot of heavy clothing with me on the trip given that the rest of the trip should be hot/humid (Flores, Sulawesi, Sumba, Timor) but I don't want to be cold. Will a pair of jeans and a hooded fleece and wool socks do the trick?

I am going to take a bus to Parangtritis. Do you know if I can find there a taxi or ojek to take me to the beaches.
