Hi,
Last year I'm went in Thailand, andaman coast and now I'm planning a trip in Indonesia in Dec-Gen (1 mounth).
I'm looking for nice beaches and with calm sea ( i konw that in Bali the sea is perfect for the surf), places not tourist.
Where to go? Sumatra, Bali, Lombok, Giava? Where do you suggest?
Thanks a lot
Roberto

TRY Southern part of NIAS ISLAND, just off the Sibolga city(North Sumatera) where you can discover less touristy beach(LAGUNDRI and SORAKE), good place to hide away from the crowded. Indeed the wave, some says could be the third best wave for surfing. Even, the way to get this Island is less a little bit hard with the road. But, bears in mine that you're not the first tourist who's come here, but you might be the lucky one to make a stop over in this Island. Try to get the flight from MEDAN - GUNUNG SITOLI first, then get the bus down to south of this Island. The sea is fine and so easy to find surfing facilities and also diving.
Place is fine, people is welcome....

There are some beautiful beaches south of Padang. I usually spend time in Painan, but the beaches there are not so good. However there is an isalnd Cingkuk that has the most beautiful white sand and is such a little paradise. Check out my photos below. The second set of photos has lots of shots of Cingkuk.
My friend Edi Muly in Painan would be able to take you across to the island. He is in my photos and has a small homestay just 2 kms out of Painan going to Air Haji-Kambang.
Email me at pamelajoyfuge@hotmail.com if you want more info' re Edi and Cingkuk Island.
Another wonderful beach area is Pulau Weh just a one hour fast ferry ride from Banda Aceh. Check out these websites for info'
Lumba Lumba and Rubiah Divers
Kuta south Lombok is extremely beautiful beach area. Check out Lombok Lovers fpr photos and info'
Great place to stay in Kuta is Mimpimanis Homestay
Spent 5 days there in Nov 2006- felt like being at home in a tropicla location. Hosts Gemma and Made are the best people.

See all those islands off the western coast of Sumatra? Most of them are what you are looking for. Apart from Mentawai (which would likely have a few tourists and lots of Surf Charter Boats) and Nias (which might have 30-50 surfers staying in Lagundri Bay), you won't find many, if any tourists. I have some photos of some specials ones I found if you follow my link below.
poster #5 finally someone else have same point of view with me about someone who already stay in TT here for 7 years, and travelling almost all over Indonesia. Then become an advertiser about some local bussiness in this forum. Can't find any other media besides TT??
Well, actually CIRCEO DID NOT ask whom to meet and any kind places(wisma, hotel, travel) to be suggested or to be picked on the road up. Even not asking any good local bussiness people tobe seen.. ( who is gemma and made, anyway????)
Actually, what excatly poster #2 trying to set up in this room ???
Just like every time when she replied any questions on this forum, from every OP. Really not comfort me and disturbing me at all every time opening this TT forum(reading some repeting places, people, hotels she recommended to use... )
Wish, this could be the last time i find someone advertising something , local bussiness on this TT forum. Especially when I open my TT.
Oh, please... NOT AGAIN sis.

Inclement weather will be a big factor at the time of year you plan to travel to Indo.

Bosenk,
I do not understand your problem with me -except on the point I caught you out blatantly lying about being in places when it was quite obvious you weren't as the time you mentioned.
As you seem to be quite ignorant of the fact this forum is for fellow travellers from outside Indonesia to help other travellers with information about their personal experiences whilst travelling in Indonesia.
You really do not seem to understand this point!!
I have been to many places and I recommend the people and places where I stayed which I thought were noteworthy.
That is perfectly legitimate for me to mention them on this forum. What is not tolerated is a person advertising their own business on this forum!!
For your information I DO NOT have any businesses in Indonesia at all let alone the travel industry, but you keep referring to the fact I do.
If you are involved in the travel industry like you say you are then you yourself know that make comments like about me are 100% LIES!!!
And as I have said to you before publicly you can criticize and lie about me and do whatever you like- but other people have been there before and done that to me and I am still here helping people with their questions.
The really sad thing is that the more you criticize and put me down the worse you look in the eyes of the readers of this forum. You are supposed to be here to give out valuable information to travellers, not spending a whole post putting down a western traveller who has spent 7 yrs here on TT trying to encourage travellers to go to Indonesia.
You personally are doing yourself a great disservice spending your time trying to give me a hard time.
Pamela.
