I'm going to arrive in Denpasar (Bali) at the 26.8 ... I arrive quite late at 10pm ... what's the best budget place to stay and how much should I spend for a taxi to get there??? ... Can I check in so late at night or do I have to book in advance???
Thx

Kuta is full of cheap and moderate accommodation and is just a few minutes by taxi from the airport; any guidebook will give you reams of options here.
If it's not high season you could just get dropped off at Bemo corner, a central point in Kuta, and then check out a few places yourself before deciding... but it's easier to book the first night ir two in advance. Lots of rooms - you'll always find something.
Save money right after landing by not using the airport taxis (just ignore all their annoying touting) and just walk across the car park to the right, through the main gate and hail one of the BlueBird taxis that you'll see passing there (lots of them) as they charge much less and reliably use their metres.
good advice by #1. i do it exactly like so everytime i arrive in DPS. cab outside the airport..roughly about 30.000 to bemo corner as far as i remember. on jalan legian there`s plenty of budget accomodation, at least for the 1. night and then maybe in daylight you wanna look around. if you need to book ahead, Adhi Dharma Cottages on jl legian 155 could be booked online in advance. clean, safe & helpful. but anyway 10pm is not late for Kuta..
have fun :-)

yes you save money if you walk out of the airport to get a taxi ,but if you dont know where your going is it worth the trouble for a dollar or 2 ?
i guess if you are on a budget and would consider walking a few steps for a few bucks to save worth a dinner and a drink, yes, it could be..

The cheapest and best value places to stay in Kuta Beach are along the narrow alleyway that links Poppies Gang 1 with Poppies Gang 2 (and there are some cheapish places along Poppies Gang 1 or Poppies Gang 2 such as "Dua Dara" and "Arthawan" on PG 2). And to the north of Poppies Gang 2 there is also an alleyway with more cheap places.

Probably slightly more on the alley north of Poppies II (the one with the convenience store on the corner). Should be able to get something for Rp40000 or thereabouts. Really difficult to get in there with a taxi, though - and annoying for everyone trying to walk.

Kuta: Poppies Gang 2 is a narrow one-way alleyway (running from the beach inland to Jalan Legian), so that is the way the taxi driver will get you to Poppies Gang 2). Have the taxi drop you off in front of the Kori Restaurant or Tubes Bar (every taxi driver knows the Kori Restaurant and Tubes Bar, but they don't necessarily know the names of all the budget places to stay in that area). This is a good area to stay and there are lots of good budget cafes in this area as well. You find the alleyway linking Poppies Gang 2 with Poppies Gang 1 close to Tubes Bar at the corner where Bagus Pub is located.
