hi
does anyone have any info on whether the skytrain within the soekarno hatta airport is up and running. I am flying in on October in a domestic terminal and need to catch a sccot flight to Singapore (I believe this is from terminal 2)?
I haven't bought the domestic leg yet from yogya as I cant estimate the time taken to get from one terminal to the other? I read somewhere to give an allowance of 4 hours from scheduled landing of domestic flight to departure of international flight but I am travleeling with young children and don't really wanna get stuck in the airport for idle hours ....thanks for the help
regards

Where did you hear of this skytrain? There's only the free bus shuttle or paid taxi that I know.

but it seems to be still in trial phase with operation only in sept 2017...
how easy hard is it to get a taxi from one terminal to the next? and the costs?
Yesterday was the first test run of the skytrain. Then they indicated that they hope it will be fully operational by the end of the year. In October it may be running partially, but I wouldn't count on it. In any case otherwise there are shuttle buses (and taxis).
Scoot indeed departs from terminal 2 (D/E). The options from Jogja include Batik Air, AirAsia, Citilink, Garuda, Lion Air and Sriwijaya. AirAsia and Sriwijaya arrive also in terminal 2 (F), and it is easy to walk from 2F to 2E. Lion Air, Citilink, and Batik Air are in terminal 1; Garuda is in terminal 3. In normal circumstances, 3 hours should be sufficient (taking into account luggage, changing terminals, check-in, security, and immigration), but for risks of flight delays or other problems, I think 4 hours is indeed better.
I understand you probably already bought the Scoot flight; but wouldn't it be much easier to buy a direct flight from Jogja to Singapore (AirAsia or Silk Air). Looking at a random date in October, the prices for flights Jogja-Jakarta are about 500,000-600,000, while Jogja-Singapore is about 800,000-1 million. For this small price difference you would avoid the hassle of a transit and the idle hours with children in the airport.

Thanks Erwin - yes I knew about the direct flights but all the flights seem to le in the morning like air asia is like at 9 am and silk is at 10.15.....we wanted to enjoy a bit more of yogya on the last day so the scoot flight is in the evening at 7 pm...
given that scoot departs at terminal 2 - if I do get an air asia that arrives at terminal 2 - will 3 hours between flights give sufficient time for getting off the flight and check in? how far is the walk between 2d/e and 2F?
thanks- your info is a lifesaver!
You're welcome. The walk between 2F and 2D/E is certainly less than 5 minutes. Under normal circumstances 3 hours should be sufficient, but of course there are no guarantees, as the AirAsia flight may be delayed; the waiting time for the luggage may be long; etc.
The direct flights JOG-SIN are indeed only in the morning, except for Sundays, then they are in the afternoon.

thanks again ...looks like air aisa may be out as there is a plane that lands at 5.40 whereas my flight on scoot is at 7.55. how hard is it to get from terminal 3 garuda to terminal 2....taxi queues long? are they expensive?
this article seemed to suggest that the skytrain from t 3-t2 could be operational by sept?
Okay, yes, it could be. In the Kompas newspaper I read that they hope it will be 'fully operational' by the end of the year. There will now be test runs for one month, and after that they will be certified (or not). So then indeed by September it could operate partially (with one train set).
I have only arrived in the new T3 once until now, and at that time there were plenty of taxis and no queue, but that is just a one-time experience. In T1 and T2 there are sometimes queues for taxis, but I have never waited longer than 10 minutes.
