I stayed at both for a couple of nights each in various ocassions. Both are of a similar standard. AP Inn has some rooms that are a lot nicer than others - the cheapest are windowless and dark (which I experienced). The more expensive ones with balconies looked nice though. Ayu Beach rooms are reasonable, with 2 nice pools, and is perfectly fine. It has a selction of rooms of verious standards and attracts more of a wide range of age groups, whereas AP Inn caters more to the young, backpacker crowd.

Another good option is Masa Inn opposite. My favorite of all on Poppies 1 is La Walon, directly opposite AP Inn, but this is undergoing renovation at the moment... not sure when it will be open properly again.

I stayed at Ayu Beach, and thought it was pretty good for the price. Stayed in a basic clean room with good fan for 60,000 Rp. They also had more expensive rooms with air-con and hot water showers.
