I'm thinking of taking the perama boat tour to Komodo in early September. I was wondering if anyone out there who's done this can tell me:
1. Is there much difference in comfort between cabin and deck? I'm not that picky, but don't want to sleep on a hard floor getting soaked by rain, etc. either.
2. Do these trips tend to fill up early? Should a reserve well in advance?
3. Is the price the same arranging this in Bali or Lombok as it is doing it through their website?
Thanks!

Reports over the years on these trips VARY GREATLY from Great trip to Terrible trip, depending on the particular boat which will be used, the particular employees on the boat, the weather conditions (which can sometimes be terrible with a storm and wet deck OR very pleasant weather), and whether the company is making a profit as it relates to price of the trip, quality of food, and whether it will be good value or bad value trip.

A friend went on that cruise last year, said that it was fantastic.... Don't know enough details for you though, sorry.

1) With the cabin you've got your own space, which is nice, and you can unpack your rucksack. The cabins are small, but OK.
If sleeping on deck, it is under a roof, the main living area gets cleared and mattress pads put on the floor in the evening. You also live out of your rucksack.

2) Not sure, I have heard the boats get quite full during peak season. I've only visited around Easter, and the boat has not been crowded.

3) Yeah, price on the website is what you pay at the office in Kuta.
