Mt. Bromo National Park Assault

Mt. Bromo is beautiful and going there to watch sunrise is a popular attraction. According to the locals, an assault on a 'tourist' never happened at this National Park. But, it did. a couple of days ago. A girl on her way to watch the sunrise, and, walking on the main road, was assaulted by a man with a stone in his hand.. He was trying to drag the girl off the main road. Luckily, a couple of tourists were on their way up too and saw what was happening. The perpetrator fled when he saw them. The girl sustained several injuries, specially to her face, as she tried to fend off the attacker..Thankfully, she is alive and things could have been worst..The incident was reported to the Sepakura police and park ranger Several locals also saw what happened and helped. The perpetrator is still at large as of this writing. There had been reports of some unpleasant incidents in the past at Bromo on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, those one star reviews were few and relegated to the back. I hope would-be travelers read them as part of their travel research plan.
