I'm planning to visit Mount Bromo from Surabaya on January 6-7. I'll be landing at Surabaya Airport at about 14:00 on January 6, and planning to get a private car to go straight to Cemoro Lawang so I can visit Bromo independently the next morning. I'm not a fan of tours, and from what I have read, it is easy enough to do without a tour.

If anyone would like to join this trip and share the cost for the ride, please let me know. I've been quoted IDR650K one-way, and plan to take regular local transportation options back to Surabaya in the afternoon on January 7.

If there is any other advice on a better/cheaper way to get to Cemoro Lawang after landing at 14:00, that would be appreciated. From my previous research, it does not seem that I can rely on the bus to Probolinggo and then minibus to Cemoro Lawang at this time.

Thanks!

Hi,

Alternatively take the train from Sidoarjo and get off at Probolinggo train station, from Probolinggo take an online taxi which can be booked and searched on google. more efficient and timely

Thanks taksibromo. The train is a good option to get to Probolinggo, but the issue is getting from Probolinggo to Cemoro Lawang at that time of day (around 17:30). The only transport I could find so far is charging IDR450K, so it's barely any savings compared with just going straight from the airport for 650K.

More easy to use private car to charter from surabaya bromo surabaya (more less 800k) if you want to see sunrise, you stay overnight and need the jeep, and tomorrow between at 9am, back to surabaya. But if you take a bus, from airport to bus station Purabaya and move to public transportation at Probolinggo bus station. If your flight lending between at 9-10am, no need jeep. You can find other route, second point, near Cemoro lawang about 5km.

teeinto, where did you get the 650k quote for Surabaya to Bromo? I'm looking to book that in a couple months and having trouble finding. I had one quote for a million. Thanks in advance.
