Hi there,
we have a flight to Bali next Sunday and our original intent was to do some time on Bali and then head to Lombok. Total time in Indonesia three weeks. Then I recently bought LP for whole Indonesia and now I feel tempted to take a plane from Bali to Makassar and then if possible maybe all the way to Ambon and Banda Islands after a week on Bali (Amed and Ubud, I thought). Good beaches in solitude and diving is our main goal.
- Is it worth it to fly to Sulawesi instead of Lombok, will there be fewer fellow travellers?
- Is it possible to make it from Bali to Banda Islands and back within two weeks and still feel relaxed..?
Cheers,
Greger

Diving in Sulawesi for this short time you have to go to beachless Bunaken and better than Lombok for snorkeling as I am no diver
Banda is possible would definitly advise go straight there and have week Bali Lombok at the end. Not many travelers Sulweisi and gets less the further east you go (excellent) its the connections from Ambon to Banda that are the problem finding the time of the ferrys, Its easy once you are on the Bandas to find the times back.
If any of you have Bahsa definitly go for ringing the Pelni office in Ambon and asking the next boat connection time to the Bandas. You can do this before you leave home of course, times given should be within a day or so. If no Bahsa get somone on Bali to call for you. You might get the flight but its not excactly reliable see info in my sign line for the general picture of getting to the Bandas.
Pleanty of flights to Ambon from Jakarta or Bali mostly via Makassar.
Its worth the effort to get to Bandas you could drop Amed snorkeling and relaxing round there doesnt come near to the Bandas.
