We are flying into Singapore from US round trip. Looking to go to Medan, Sumatra and then over to Bali. Is my best option to get rt flight from Sin to Medan and then rt flights Sin to Bali? Or am I missing an easier way that doesn’t include loooong layovers? Thanks!

Fly Singapore to Medan, then Medan to Depansar(bali), and bali Singapore... One ways are quite cheap and easy in Indonesia.. Check out Lion Air/Batik/wings, Garuda, citi link, air Asia, Sribajaya air, scoot, firefly etc..

Note there are 2 airports in Medan

Skyscanner does not show these cheapie but Momondo or Google will... Don't fly to early am or you'll get stuck with some rip off taxi rides!!!

You could fly from Medan to Bali via Jakarta or Surabaya, saving the hassles of going through immigration, probably having to pick up your luggage etc.

My info & thoughts:
on East-Indonesia.info: Indonesia, Maluku, West Papua, Raja Ampat & Indonesian Visas
on Thorn Tree: Seeing Orangutans, Kalimantan, Kiribati & Tuvalu

It can be alot cheaper by the way, to fly into KUL, rather then Singapore

There's a Lion Air flight via Bandung with less than an hour layover. I wouldn't stress about that short time. Bandung Airport isn't very big.

@adventurseeker, how many days do you plan to holiday in Indonesia?

There is only one international airport in Medan - Kualanamu (KNO). Medan itself is not normally the real destination. Most common are Bukit Lawang (orangutans) and Danau (Lake) Toba where I am now.

We' all be there end of October. Must remember to send them an email and book. We want one of those down by the boat dock this time. Too old to walk up the hill.
