Hello -
Planning a trip to Komodo (see the dragons, maybe some snorkeling) in late September for around 3 days. Checking the various websites I notice that very few actually post prices for the various tours. Any insights as to why? Also, I would appreciate any recommendations as to which particular tours might be best - with a reasonable (ca:$ 300-400 or so)cost.

Tour from where?
At such a price I guess from Bali.
And by boat or flying?

The cheapest tours to Komodo are from the nearby town of Labuanbajo on Flores, which you can reach by flying from Bali. Tours from there cost under $100/person.

Flying into Denpasar, then to Labuan Bajo. Figured a boat from there. I assume (please feel free to correct me) I could get a tour from there. So about $100/day would be a good rough estimate?

I already told you that you can get a tour from Labuanbajo.
Under $100/person would be by joining a group. Actual price could depend on the number of participants, and on whether it includes the park entry fee. You could also hire your on boat for a daytrip.
Komodo is very near Labuanbajo and is an easy daytrip from there. It takes only maybe 2 hours of slow sailing to get to so would be hard to stretch into a 3 days long trip, what you said you were looking for, from there.
Whether joining a group tour or hiring your own boat (with boatmen, of course) you should only book it once there, not online, if you care about price at all.
