Thinking of visiting Indonesia in Sept and looking for any reccomendations for places to stay (backpacker places so i can meet some new people). Also if anyone will be there around the beginning of sept and fancies travelling with me, then let me know! Im up for all the sights, not much or a lying on the beach person, but can maybe do it for a day or two! Thanks for your time :)

Indonesia is a HUGE place....bigger than Europe, and almost as large as the US. Maybe you should get a guidebook and decide WHERE you want to go: Bali, Java, Sumba, Flores, Sumatra, Sulawesi, etc. With only 1 month entry pass on arrival; 2 months if you apply abroad, you won't see more than a smidgen under the best of circumstances.

Maybe peek in a guidebook or at the LP website or even in the FAQ's at the top of the SE Asia TT Branch to get a better idea of where, and what's already been written.

hey Imhowie--I was a youthh wrker too - homless in SF - tough job eh but you gotta love it---for a while at least. Check out my posts and responses on Bali( and that other one to the guy going a million places over thousands of miles who like to travel slow-in 2 months!)--if you search for my posts ignore my mean comments to the cruise ship people - I was in a bad mood and Im not proud -:)... but heh read up a little cuz I was just told August is The big month for cremations in Bali but it may have been august and sept or July and august-you wouldnt wanna miss if you aint done it yet. sorry to ramble today but my body is still in Bali and I should be asleep right now but Im on a TT roll here - just really enthusiastic and greatfull to the good TTers for the advice theyve given me in the past --Happy Trails eh!

You will meet plenty of people on your way - depending on where you go. I found some areas of Bali less suitable for meeting other single travellers. It is popular with groups of Australians, New Zealanders and couples which makes it more difficult to meet new people.

However, be spontaneous and you will meet plenty of people. Just remind yourself, it is not the quantity but the quality that counts. That being said - you can have a wonderful time with only one traveller.
