Hi, thanks for the heads-up about the extortionate activities of the Bangsal Harbour mafia. It's still bad though. Despite being forewarned, we were ripped off. With an international flight to catch at the end of the day we were keen to get through the Harbour so booked a boat/private mini-bus combo while on Gili Air. I hoped this would mean the connections would be smooth. Our ticket was taken by the mafioso at the Harbour and we were herded into a waiting room. An hour and half later there was no prospect of the mini-bus leaving while they waited for more boats to arrive with prospective travellers. Eventually we paid for a private taxi to get us to the airport. My tip, get a fast boat, and avoid Bangsal Harbour altogether, if possible. Despite speaking Indonesian and trying my best to negotiate, the mafia had covered all bases.

Hi @reginagleeson, I've moved your topic to South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula: Indonesia branch.

Now there's also the regular shared speed boat for 85k/person to Bangsal. Then just walk to the main rd & get a prebooked Bluebird or Express taxi. Much less likely to be a rip off.
