Honeymooning in Bali

Hi!
So my husband and I are from Canada and have planned a rough trip to Bali in April for our honeymoon! We are first time travellers to Bali so we would love some feedback on a few things!

Here is the rough itinerary:
Fly in/out of KL, Malaysia and we are staying there for a couple nights to do a bit of exploring. My husband competed in the Sanda kickboxing competitions (the worlds I think?) a few years ago so its more of a reminiscing trip there.
**Question: Do we buy our flights from KL to Bali now or wait until we get to KL? Whats the better option and what is the best site to book from if we are booking in advance?

Then we've booked an AirBnB near Balian Beach (was told by a good friend that its a cute, quiet surfer village) and are staying there for a few nights.
After that, we head back east to Canggu and are staying in Mengwi until we fly back to KL to head home.

We do not drink and are looking for a fairly relaxing trip although we would LOVE some ideas of sites to see and things to do while we are there - as well as any advice on:

  1. Getting around - is taking a Bemo the best option to get from the Bali airport out to Tabanan? We are not opposed to taking local transport but if there's a better option I'd love to hear it.

  2. Money - what is the best currency to take with? A few blogs I've read say that AUD$ are the best because it's easier to remember the conversion rate but others say taking USD nothing less than $100 bills was best. We will be there for a total of 10 days with all accommodation paid for ahead of time... so what is a good amount per day for a food budget? We are both vegetarian and like I said, we do not drink alochol. And what's a good amount of cash to bring with? Are traveller's cheques a good idea??

  3. Cities to stay in - I did a bit of research before booking the places I have but if either seem like they won't be what we are after, I'd love some advice on areas to stay in. We aren't party goers which is why I decided to book us away from Seminyak and Kuta.

You don't say where you are from..Aus dollars work well only if you normally use AUD. Only Indonesian rupiah is legal tender so no matter what currency you bring you will have to change it to rupiah. Yes, the crisp Big Head USD 100 gets you the best rate.

Places to stay: It sounds like you already booked your accomm? Or do you have more days to play with? In that case I suggest you look around a little more and get out of the Bali southern beaches for a few days. There is so much more to Bali than just the highly populated south.

Bemos are public transport for short hops around defined routes and are not good for you.. They are really designed for use within a village boundary so just a few kilometers, not for inter- regency trips.

Yes -- AUD and USD get good rates but so do CAD -- every time you change money you will lose money -- more than you could possibly gain (in my opinion) by buying an intermediate currency. Just come with you CAD. There are many ATMs available so you have a good choice.

Taking local transport (bemo) in Bali is very complicating and not confortable with luggages. It is better hire a car with driver
