IMO sometimes even very touristy places can actually be quite pleasant in low / off season. Goa is a good example with picture postcard beaches in off-season with not a shack in sight and barely any other tourists. Unrecogniseable once the high season starts.


Every group has its own dynamics, if you can't see the idiot then it's probably you.

In the late 80s it was about 7000 rp a night to stay at losmens at Gili Trawangan which included dinner.

When I went to Indonesia in 1991, I didnt go to the Gilis as they seemed to be overhyped already.
