Yeah, they don't mean tsunamis by "tidal waves". The weather has been unusual for the season lately, with big winds. The NTT province government stopped the public ferries running for a few days a couple of weeks ago, and with winds picking up again I'm not surprised that they've done it again... It's probably a good idea as those old roll-on roll-off ferries that chug between Flores, Timor, Sabu and Sumba are really not meant for open waters, and cope horribly even with quite small seas.
