Hello I will be traveling to Bali in 4 days.
Here are my questions.
I downloaded the offline map for Bali, is it enough to get around Bali with it, or should I just get a SIM card just in case?
Tough luck that I cant unlock my phone because it is under a contract right now, and I can't buy a cheap extra phone from where I am in Japan right now, so I can buy it at the Airport in Denpansar?
on the side, I do have an old ZTE at&t phone at this moment, but Im unsure if it will ever work in Bali.
thank you in advance.

How do you plan to get around? If you will ride a motorcycle by yourself, a phone with Google Maps is useful. But if you will use taxis, rental cars and/or public transport, it may not be necessary.

In any case it should be easily possible to buy a phone and sim card in Bali. The price in the airport is probably higher than in small shops/stalls outside the airport. It is easiest to ask the staff in the shop immediately to activate/register the sim card.

You dont say which maps you have downloaded, but an offline smartphone map like MapsMe would (probably) be fine on either of your current phones, whether you can use the phone to make phone calls or not.

Download the app and the Indonesia maps (about 50MB total) while you are still at home, then you won't need any internet connection in Bali.

Don't buy anything in an airport unless you enjoy flushing money down the toilet.

Yes I will be renting a Motorcycle, I have my international driver license issued too along with little experience of driving in Vietnam. I'm just not sure how accurate the road in the map is to the real one.

I keep on hearing the Bali is a big island but I never got the specific answer to whether between point A tourist place to point B tourist place would take more than 1 hr or less.

On the first day I will base myself near the airport, then jumping my lodging from places to places if it work but that sound too tiring.
Is there a good starting place to base my lodging?

As you walk out of the airport arrival hall there's a Telkomsel/Simpati kiosk selling simcards. It's not manned 24/7 though.
For me it's very useful to have a local sim.

Try to stay somewhere with wifi so you can download extra maps, use Skype, LINE, WA etc. I presume you can turn on location on your phone.
