Padang Bai was not the location for shooting the movie, Eat Pray Love. That was Ubud, and my wife is in it as an extra several times. Some shots were also taken in Jimbaran.
If pristine beaches are essential, then head to Kuta, Lombok.
Interestingly enough since the time the original post was made on this topic, now over four years ago, most of the beaches in Bali have only gotten worse.
