Hi, me and a mate are heading out to Indonesia for 30 days in September and we’ve been trying to work out a rough itinery. Would just like to get peoples opinions on what we’ve come up with and maybe suggestions of how we could do it better, places we should include/forget about etc.
We’re both into diving and would like to try out surfing. We're both pretty social people, like a drink and a laugh/meeting people etc (who doesnt?) but on the whole prefer to do this in more chilled out places rather than overly touristy places such as Kuta (having said that we do want to check that place out).
Confused? I am! Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.
The Plan…
Flying into Jakarta, staying overnight then getting a flight onto Bali.
About 5 days spread between Kuta and Seminyak for some relaxing/beach/bars etc then going up to Ubud for 3-4 days for some walks, spas and so on, maybe do white-water rafting on Sungai Ayung.
Then we like the sound of Nusa Lembongan so wanna go there for 3 or 4 days for a more relaxed beach atmosphere and hopefully get our advanced padi license.
After that want to head over to Lombok and try to get to Senaru to do the 4 day trek up Gunung Rinjani.
After this we want to head back to the Gilli Islands for the last 3 or 4 days for more diving, beach/bars before going back to Bali and flying back to Jakarta and home.
We really did fancy doing the Perama boat trip from Lombok to Flores via Komodo but looking at the time we have I think that'll be out of the question.
Just from reading my LP guide it seems that getting to and from Nusa Lembongan is going to be a bit time consuming as there doesn’t seem to be any way of travelling on from there to Lombok so it means doubling back on ourselves to Bali then going via Padangbai over to Sengiggi. I really don’t want to miss it out though, so has anyone got any ideas of a better way of getting around this? Thanks again!

The Bounty used to call in at Lembongan on the way to the Gilis, but I believe it doesn't run right thru any more. There are some new high speed services Bail to the Gilis, perhaps one of them calls in. Maybe google can find these.
I have written some info on a lot of the places you are visiting in the second link below. I think there may be some google places sublinks to those new high speed boats there.

Oh, and I don't think you are trying to fit too much in. People who like kicking back and relaxing in one spot for extended times will think differently, of course.

Cheers Tezza for the advice, not been able to find any more info on travel direct from lembongan onto lombok as yet but will continue to look. Nice blog by the way, gave me some good ideas - just makes me wish we were going for longer tho!

This doesn't really answer your questions but may give you another option to think about:
From Nusa Lembongan you can catch the local morning boat back to Sanur OR you could inquire about a boat over to Nusa Penida.......local boats do go early in the morning to ToyaPakeh. Nusa Pendia is worth a day tour and an overnight. There are comfortable daily boats from Sampalan in Penida over to PadangBai (around 40 min or so) including the new Car ferry. From PadangBai you can catch the ferry over to Lombok.
