Mola Mola: I saw a mola mola (sunfish) only once, and it was a long time ago --- about 1993. It was huge --- as big as a VW Bug. My sighting was at at Amed, Bali (not far off-shore from the end of the beach where the road goes up that steep hill). In 1993 the coral reef at that point was pristine, but has since suffered substantial damage like so many other reefs in Indonesia --- due to El Nino warming of the waters and other causes --- and that spot no longer has the sea life that it had in the early 1990's. I doubt that a mola mola could be seen again at that spot.

# 10: I was snorkling (not diving) at Amed when I saw the Mola Mola. It is so sad that so many coral reefs in Indonesia have been badly damaged or destroyed over the past 15 years.

Diving in Pulau Weh, off Aceh is superb. One of the best in the region. Lumba Lumba diving agency is great (run by a dynamic dutch couple).

Top 5 lists are totally lame as they depend on so many subjective factors. Ever the hypocrite here is my top 5 for Indo:

1. Missool island, Raja Ampat
2. Lembeh Strait
3. Komodo
4. Lembongan and Penida
5. Bunaken
