Hi Lonely Planet! My girlfriend needs to go back to Japan ASAP but here's the tricky part, she's holding a Philippine passport, coming from Australia, and will fly from Melbourne to Bali, then Bali to Jakarta, and finally Jakarta to Tokyo.

Would you guys know what's the requirement or procedure of having an Indonesian transit visa? Will she need to have a health certificate? I'm very worried with all the lockdowns happening.

So we have plans in place to fly into Medan May 18, out of Bali June 25. We’ll be in Sumatra, Bali, and a week in Lombok. Since I have non-refundable tickets I’m in sort of wait and see mode.

I’m curious what the vibe is there now. Any sense whether guest houses eateries etc will remain open? Attitude towards tourists. No one on here can predict the virus path, so I’m more curious about other aspects of travel in Indo right now. Thx in advance.

Singapore Airlines just cancelled my flight home. I’m due to fly 31 March. They say they prioritise people flying in next 72 hours & waits on the phone can be up to 4 hours. So rebooking isn’t easy. There is no office at the airport to deal with ticketing issues. I have no visa as I intended to stay 29 days only. Without a visa I can’t extend a visa. But I’ll be forced to stay longer due to events beyond my control. Does anybody have any experience of this &/or any advice?

Need any information regarding current situation in Bali regarding possible flights out to the States via a country that still allows transit passengers. Had flight thru Taipei on April 5 but no chance now with new policy. Would consider an Asian country (Japan, South Korea, HK?) even with 14 day quarantine as a backup if US shuts down. Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid, but just feel Bali's not going to be very hospitable when the losmans, hotels and resorts close down. No jobs, no money might…

Where can I buy fresh fruit & veg from market stalls/ local traders (not supermarkets) in Tuban or Kuta? I used to go early in Ubud to the vans parked near the market but I’m now in Tuban & I don’t know if there is a fruit market in Tuban or Kuta. Just been to the supermarket where they’re selling imported fruit at high prices. Any advice on buying local stuff from a market would be much appreciated. Thanks

One of the most amazing days. Make sure you check it out if you ever make it to the Gili Islands in Lombok.

Like Singapore and Malaysia, Indonesia is introducing entry restrictions due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From 20th March, visa-free entry and Visa on Arrival will be suspended for 30 days.
Every visitor will need a visa in advance, and getting one will require a health certificate.
Visitors who have been to the following countries in the past 14 days will not be allowed to enter:
Iran, Italy, Vatican, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom

My info & thoughts:
on East-Indonesia.info: Indonesia, Maluku, West Papua, Raja Ampat & Indonesian Visas
on Thorn Tree: Seeing Orangutans, Kalimantan, Kiribati & Tuvalu

I'm due to be in the Yogyakarta area from 22nd to 27th March. Does anyone know what the coronavirus situation is there, and are hotels, restaurants and shops taking precautions? Thank you.

I'm planning a trip to Flores in May. Flying into Maumere and out of Labuan Bajo (LBJ). At one point we will be in Bajawa and want to visit Wae Rebo. We could go from either Bajawa or LBJ to Wae Rebo and I see there is a short in time flight from Bajawa to LBJ. Time is short, not on a gap year!!

Is the road from LBJ to Denge/DIntar better than going from Bajawa direction?

Which is quicker - from Bajawa or LBJ? We will hire a car/driver.

Any views on the reliability/punctuality of the…
