A few questions:
The LP book on Tibet states that there is no public transportation from Nangartse (Yamdrok-tso) to Gyantse. True? If so, any thoughts about getting from one to the other (prefer not to hitch hike)?
Any recommendations for touring companies to do a 3-4 day excursion to Nam-tso and Tashi Dor Monastery?
Any recommendations (and web sites and/or e-mail addresses) for trekking companies either in Lhasa or Kathmandu who do Everest advanced base camp trek?

Some time ago, I posted a message asking people for their opinions re taking the 3 or 4 day cruise - there was a varying degree of opinion on this - mostly, I feel, negative. We are still in a quandry about whether to book this or not (we were going to do a 5 star ship), but are now wondering:
Is there any way of seeing the Three Gorges area, and the dam, without doing the three to four day cruise that seems to be the standard tourist norm for this area. For example, can one fly to Yichang and…
Hi there,
We will be having 5 days in Hong Kong as part of our honeymoon, but wanted to go to 'China' as we have never been before. As we have never been to HK/China, we are open to some suggestions.
Where is good to go to from Hong Kong (we don't mind flying) if only for a few days? Obviously we don't have a lot of time which is a bugger, but we wanted to try and see something other than Hong Kong (our 5 day stopover is in HK).
Cheers guys.
Hi everyone
I'm planning to spend 5 weeks in China in the summer and wolud apreeciate some comments on the dangers and annoyances of travelling alone. I've backpacked through a lot of countries but it will be my first time to China. I'm particulary refering to language problems, safety, train booking problems, costs for a low budjet...

Does anybody know a good place to go on a 10 to 2 week hiking trip in China? I speak English and French only, but would like to go somewhere where i can visit small villages and experience local culture, but also some challenging hiking. Any thoughts very much appreciated. Thanks.
I am going to my friend's wedding in Hiroshima this coming weekend. I have known her for about 7 years and meet her or talk with her about twice a year. So on that basis, how much should I pay as a gift for the new couple? I though 30,000yen and then some older people told me since I am young, 20,000yen. This is my first time to go to a wedding ceremony and first party in Japan. I've been to the 2nd party twice.

Kaili is home to over one hundred festivals a year. The most common festival is the lusheng festival held often during spring festiavl and the festival is celebrated by the miao and dong villagers around kaili.
At festival time the miao women wear their stunning sliver jewellery often piling on five or six neck rings at a time as well as chains loins, chest locks and multiple headresses ,silver was originally obtained from melting old coins and girls wear huge horned silver headdresses and…
