Hi all,

I am thinking to go for 2 weeks to Tibet this summer. The flights from London with China Southern are quite expensive (950 GBP/person) and I wonder if they would be cheaper if booked together with a tour with a local operator.

Also, in terms of itinerary, our main driver is Buddhist culture. Last year they suggested Lhasa, Shigatse, Saga, Chiu monastery, Paryang and Kailash (I was thinking of doing the walk). The average price quoted 1800 USD per person.

What do you think?

Hi,
I read that train tickets need to be bought in advance in China.
We want to cross the boarder from Mongolia to China and then catch a train to Datong. How can I book the ticket in advance? Can you recommend an online booking tool?
Thank you!

Hi,
We are a couple from Germany and we travel to Mongolia in July/August.
First we want to do a 10 days horse riding tour with horsetrailsmongolia in the Arkhangai province. Later we make a 4WD Tour to Gobi with SteppeNomad (the e-mail address is @lookmongolia.com). This tour starts in UB and will drop us off in Zamiin Uud, where we want to cross the border to China.
If you have comments on these 2 companies, I would appreciate very much if you let me know.
If you would like to join one of the…

I'll be in Tokyo for 8 days in June and I want to 'break' my stay with a short (1 or max 2 night) trip to another place in Japan that is easily reachable with the Shinkansen.

I don't have many conditions apart from that I want to experience the bullet train and want to visit a place that is worth visiting.
- City, nature, beach, mountains - I love it all.
- Hiking, chilling, partying - Everything's fine with me.
- Culture? Also very welcome. I'd rather have good food & museums but if there's any…

My partner and I have set aside 2-3 week (possibly longer if needed) to travel through China. We have an outlined itinerary of where we want to go. I would love some advice or suggested itineraries for travelling the route (to make sure we aren't missing out on anything and how long to spend at each place), and also how to get from city to city. Neither of us speak mandarin and we will be going from mid April.

Beijing- Xining- Jiayuguan- Turpan- Urumqi- Kashgar

Thanks!

Hello all,
I read many posts already, and would still appreciate some guidance.
I will travel in Japan, backpacker/budget style, during the spring for 2 weeks.
I am interested in how people live, architecture & urban design, interesting mixture of nature and man-made sites,
art, music. And of course everything which is unique Japan that cannot be seen elsewhere...
I would be happy to see 'casual' places, neighborhoods, rural places, which are not necessarily touristic spots.
2-3 day hikes outdoors /…

Cycling

Hi! I would like to do some cycling for a day or 2 days. Nothing to steep. A tour would be more fun than renting a bike and doing it alone. Any suggestions please?

I will be in Beijing on April 5-7 which I know it’s a holiday in China. I want to go to 2 specific restaurants, yi wan ju and no.69 fangzhuanchang Hutong noodles for zhajiangmian. I am worried that they would be closed since they are small local joints. Will they be open? If they are what are the hours?
