My husband and I are planning a 2-week trip to Japan (followed by 2 weeks in Thailand) next November. Below is our semi-firm itinerary, with flexibility on the back end. Any suggestions or answers would be appreciated!

11/10: Tokyo – 3 nights after arrival

11/13: Hakone - daytime stopover on train for Mt. Fuji views (is the ferry ride worth the time/money? Should we take a local train to Hakone then switch to bullet train for trip to Kyoto – or is that not possible?)

11/13 – 20: Kyoto – 7…

Hi guys!
I plan a trip in May, between Tokyo-Sapporo using the JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass (6 rides / 5 cities, within 2 week period, for the area between Tokyo- South Hokkaido), and right now I am into choosing the 5 cities I should make a stop, and this is a bit confusing... :)
My idea is to choose cities which are interesting themselves, or their nearby areas, so I don't have the need for long - costly excursions far from them - extra tickets etc.
My initial plan includes Sapporo and…

The Lonely Planet guide says to take a bus to TongLiang, and then a taxi. However, from pictures this town looks big enough to have a bus service.

What is the best way to get to Anju Ancient Town? Are there buses going there? How often do they go?

Hi there,
My friend and I intend to hike part of the Kumano Kodo for 2 days, starting from Tanabe and ending in Hongu.
We have booked accommodations In Tanabe for the first night, Nanoka for the second night, and Hongu for the final night. We were looking for luggage transportation service to help move our luggages in between our accommodations for each night. The travel booking agency Kumano Travel has a few listed, but they wouldn't accept our request to book as we did not book any of our…

I want to visit the Wulong National Park out of Chongqing. I don't have a car, so I guess my best bet is to take a tour.

To make it more interesting, I can only do the tour on May 1, the Chinese May day holiday.

What is the best way to organise such a tour? Wait until I'm in Chongqing and buy the tour locally, or try to buy it online before I leave home?

Also, how much can I expect to pay, and what time would the tour normally be back in Chongqing?

I am planning to take a long distance bus from Leshan (Sichuan) to Dazu (Chongqing), which goes once a day.

I'm not sure whether these buses get booked out in China and if so, how far in advance.

Is there an online service where I can make a reservation for Chinese buses? Or do they just squash in as many people as they can and you arrive early at the bus station in the hope of getting a seat?

Hi, is 3 weeks cutting it fine to get a seat on a high speed train to Kunming on 30th April. I want to join the line at huaihua which is about 1/2 way the total line distance. I plan to buy the ticket from Kowloon West Station on 5th April. To make matters worse its about the time there's a public holiday! I'm trying to avoid on-line agents trip.com etc but if I must... any advise from the experts thanks.
