Xinjiang restaurant in Taiwan

Country forums / North-East Asia / Taiwan

Hi there everyone,

After much time spent on the dusty flats of Xinjiang, I'm again pining for some local cuisine, but so far I've failed to fine any authentic offerings in Taiwan. Does anyone know if there are any actual Uyghur (Xinjiang) restaurants in Taiwan? There are a few 'Xinjiang style' restaurants owned by local enthusiasts but no actual Uighur restaurants. Still given the ban that Taiwan's Government recently slapped on Rebiya Kadeer to visit in December, it's logical to assume there are very few if any Uighurs in Taiwan. I've posted a few links below to restaurants that have a Xinjiang flavor to them even if they are not Uighur run.

Thanks,
Steve

There are three Xinjiang restaurants in Taipei mentioned in this article.

Well found wix99. I did see that link before but all the owners are not Uighur. To be honest, just finding any Uighurs in Taiwan would surprise me.

2

My experience is that Taiwanese attempts at Chinese regional cuisine seldom approximate the real thing

There is one outlet at the Breeze Food Court at the 2nd Floor Taipei Main Station.
Don't try it. It was Terrible!!!
