Xiamen - things to do

Hi - my husband is off to Xiamen for business next week. He will have 1 or 2 days free whilst there and is wondering what suggestions you have as to what to do with his free time. Are there any 'must sees' or 'must dos' in this region??

Walk around the island Gulangyu. Eat fresh seafood on the beach. Take a trip by bus to ChongWu. Organize a trip to the round houses further inland.

Gulangyu, Overseas Chinese Museum, Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen University, Hulishan Battery.
If he wants to go for an overnight trip I would suggest going to the Hakka roundhouses of Yongding if he's intrepid enough.

Day 1. Visit the Botanical Gardens. If you are fit to make it to the top go down the otherside to Nanputao Temple. From the Temple, head to Xiamen University. There is a good restaurant on campus serving vegeterian food. The Overseas Chinese Museum is near Xiamen University and closer to "the other" University in Xiamen.

Day 2. Visit Gulangyu per #1 and 2. Walk the promenade when you get back to Xiamen, then the Mall. That should take up most of the day and if you have some extra time see the Park, "Zhong San Park"[[ (sp)

There's a really nice spa resprt on the outside of town called Riyuegu.
