Where to stay to visit Taroko gorge?Country forums / North-East Asia
Hi, We are planning a trip to Taiwan in December and planning to spend two nights to visit Taroko gorge. We are planning to take a train to get to the base for the gorge and then a taxi to actually visit the gorge. Thanks.
Hi Ansh. We stayed in Hualien. But I think there are some places to stay at the station, which is nearer to the gorge. There are certainly taxis there.Though we took public transport for most of it...there are buses to and from Hualien. | 1
Hi Luca, how's it going? Thanks for your input. We actually booked a hotel in Chongde to try to be closer to nature. Any idea on that area? nothing is in stone yet so open to more inputs. I will continue to consider Hualien esp if it makes transportation easier | 2
All good thanks Ansh.I am in the mountains in Georgia at the moment. No,I have only gone through Chongde on the train, that's all! | 3
I choosed Hualien too. Michel | 4
If you bring a tent, you can camp in the gorge... For free, even! | 5
I don't know the price of an accommodation outside Hualien but you can stay cheaply in Hualien. Michel | 6
Hi and thanks for all the replies. Great to hear, Luc, hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! I'll look into the bus to the gorge again. I thought the taxi for 4 people would be a better deal but I will check out the buses again. and no camping for us! price is not too much of an issue up to NTD 2500 per room per night is good (Will need 2 rooms) | 7
You can buy a pass for the bus (one or two days) and then use it all the day(s). Michel | 8
