What is the Tibet Permit?Country forums / North-East Asia / Tibet
Salutations and thanks in advance for your help. Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please tell me what is the permit required for Tibet and when it is checked? What is the standard protocol for obtaining one? Further, it seems well documented that from Xian you can take a train to Tibet, but does anyone know if you make the trip purely by train from Kumming?
There's no direct train from Kunming to TIbet, you will probably need to stop over in Chengdu before heading into Lhasa. | 1

#1 is not to be considered an expert on Tibet travel. | 3
And there's another thread a month ago as to whether a permit would be checked on the train. The response is mix. | 4
How can I be selling permits from New Zealand, hendri. Now you've totally lost your grip on life. | 5
I'm confused. Is hendri insulting Losang or Westwood? And why is he doing this? And who is he? I don't know Westwood, but Losang has been helpful to me, even though I haven't shown interest in the Tibetan areas (scared of altitude sickness). | 6
Ah, this thread gives more background to the feud going on. | 7
Looks like the original #1 has been deleted. | 8
Hendri wants to be an expert on building the highest railways in the world ?? could someone please explain who this person is?? | 9
Hendri, you said (#4) you were coming to my cafe but you left Lhasa without meeting me, I'm totally disappointed, you are a liar! | 10
Hendri reminds me a lot of a guy who used to post on here about a year ago who went under the name of Thunderkat77. I am pretty sure than Hendri is Thunderkat77's reincarnation. | 11
Agree with Ellyse...the original first posting has been deleted. My comment in #3 is not directed at Pazu, but at Hendri. | 12
Losang, Thunderkat kept posting that railway web site but hendri doesnt. He just promotes the no permit travel to Tibet.
I thought it was me he was insulting - he kept saying I was connected to fake permit scams in Chengdu.
Zhet, I'm just someone who's posted on TT since 2002, not always on this branch. I'm a late middle-aged female from New Zealand and have travelled extensively through SEA and parts of China.
#6,
/3 That 500Y wont include the fees for EBC. They are 400Y for a vehicle and 100Y pp payable at Shegar before you go enter the N.P. | 13
Losang, don't worry, I've subscribed to this thread and I know what's going on. | 14
hendri, I have NEVER hidden the fact that I have NOT been to Tibet. So what would I be "confessing" about? | 15
hendri, READ MY LIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in New Zealand and DO NOT work for Sims. Hopefully Roman will get the message soon and ban you. | 16
Who is Hendri? | 17 | |
I believe that what was mentioned in #16 has come to pass. | 18
