Hey All, I am traveling to Mongolia on a mixed destination package from Sep 29 - Oct 6. I am planning to go to the Gobi and Terelj for 6 days, 5 nights. If you want to come along, it will be cheaper for both of us. -Ben

I think I'll miss you by a day, as I land on the 29th, and won't be ready to head out until the 30th. I'm also staying until the 10th. I'm curious as to your costs, though. I just got a quote for 10 days in the Gobi and Terelj, and the price was $3800! I know that part of it is just the high cost for a single person, but I definitely didn't expect to be paying $380/day in the low season in Mongolia.

Ben, are you still looking for travel buddies? I am based in China, but have a week off and looking into going to Mongolia for a week next week. What are your costs like?

Ben and borkakhan: I'll also be in Mongolia next week. I'm leaving from Beijing by train on Sept 29, will arrive in UB in the afternoon on the 30th, and fly back on October 7th. I'm open to destinations -- either a Gobi desert trip or Khovsgol Nuur would both be awesome. If you read this and want to share costs, let me know.

Hi all, if anyone would like to leave UB to join to visit the Gobi in the next day or two that would be great. The more the merrier!

I am meeting with a couple of other travellers today to discuss a visit the Gobi , by ourselves not an expensive tour. Or at the very least taking a bus down to the area and hiring a driver/jeep from there..
Catching a lift with locals who are just looking to share fuel costs, is always on offer too and often the same price as the public transport price, but with more legroom and options etc..
I will find out more today and post on here later.

So if anyones interested to join up, we (3 of us) are leaving on the bus (Ticket from dragon bus st,6hrs- 13,000 togrog) from UB at 8am 01 oct, to the Dundgov area. Visiting further south-west after a few days, going by local bus/car/hitch.
