Travel October Mongolia

Hello friends,
me and my wife intending to come to Mongolia in october (first week) for about 3 weeks. We want to make a nice trip with horses and by Jeep covering whatever is beautiful. But october seems to be quite difficult to travel. We would hire a guide, but still we are not sure if is the right time to come now? How is the wheather now and what areas you think are not posssible to visit in October? We are thankfull for every suggestion and if you know a nice and competent guide please let us know. From Ulan Bator we want to go to Beijing via train. someone knows if it easy to by the ticket in UB itself or we should we do advanced booking? Understood that the train to Bejing leaves untill october 20th twice a week.

October will be dry but cold. Depending on the Region the days may have some warmth if there are no clouds, but at late afternoon the temperatures fall down and in the nights it may freeze. We left Mongolia some days ago and slept in our camper, but the nights were uncomfortable. Is not the best season vor travelling in Mongolia.

I'm writing from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It's little bit cold at night. Not so freezing right now. It depends day's air pressures. But you need a some extra information. If you want to travel in Mongolia in October, you need a gers for the nights. Some nomads or ger camps. Ger camps also difficult to find right now. Most of them closed. But some near distance of Ulaanbaatar will be open. about 7-8 days horse riding valley of Orkhon will be fantastic. Or 4-5 days trip in Terelj national park. Russian jeeps will be not so expensive. Also good quality. Of course not so comfortable.
By the way, thank you very much choose our beautiful country.
I'm tour guide. If you want to go with me I can manage all of your trips. Horses, nomad families, ger camps... etc.

hi, we travel also on october some years ago. you need good sleeping bags as nights are cold indeed also under a ger with nomads. fire will not run all the night! you cna buy in Ub a warm dell or a warn cashmere sleeping bag in gobi shop around 150 euro
take warm clothe and october is also a good we cna say season to travel, of course better july or august or september, but you can do all you want if warm clothes, so don't worry at all.

we know a independent driver since 14 years and be sure to find an honnest driver who will show you mongolia as never you imagine it! you will go evrry night to divide the nomadi life by stopping a ger, you can also even can be a little more difficult than summer find to make some hoorse trek for few hours ou more...
