We will be doing a stopover in Seoul and staying with a friend of my Thai girlfriend's; a tour leader for groups from Thailand living in Inchon w/ Korean husband. Dates are Oct 1,2,3. The first is date of arrival. We depart on the 4th giving us two full days. Judging by the time I spent in Korea back in 98. That should be plenty for Seoul. Is there anything special going on during this period? *** I think perhaps the best thing on offer is the palaces. Which are the best/worth a visit? We will skip Namdaemun, I don't really see an appeal for my Thai friend or myself. Anything change in this city that now makes it cool, vibrant and exciting? INEXPENSIVE fresh seafood might be a good idea?? As I recall Korea has a variation of sushi. How much does a nice meal cost, 4 persons? Not super splash, but nice well presented, tasty food with good kimchi and not the standard bog stuff. OK - LIQUOR BOOZE HOOCH Should I bring in a bottle of Jim Beam* or Johnny Walker Red (US17 ea). JUST ONE :-) Finally, to the last question - can I purchase duty free to carry on (in plastic bag) back to the US at Inchon (ICN) airport? Anyone have a clue price on alcohol as it compares to BKK? Thanks BTW: (Samsung) Phones are locked and more expensive in Korea than states correct? Basically, they use the US mafia model / phone packages.
Hi there There are a few interesting places that are seldom visiting, worth the trip. You can see pics and my thoughts of them on my blog's post on Seoul As for the food, it should be around -10 USD per person in Insadong if looking for good deals. The restaurants are nice though, and you can eat for less. Federico | 1
