Price of Fuel with Russian JeepCountry forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia
Howdy, I've been trying to get a straight answer when it comes to the price of fuel in Mongolia. Can't seem to get anyone to agree. How much would fuel cost today for a trip to the Gobi and back? I've been getting some outrageous prices. Fuel quotes actually doubled the tour price. Is this reasonable? BTW, is changing money at the airport give you a better rate? Thanks,
Paula, But they would cost you bit more / 100-300 tug per liter/ in the countryside. About the fuel cost for the Gobi trip and back, I have no idea which destinations you are going and hard to calculate for you trip fuel expenses. Good luck! | 1
Goodness, that's even more than the highest quote. Thanx. Will need it. | 2
300km! That's nothing. Even if you were in 4WD and going at low speed the whole way, that is at most 100 litres of fuel. | 3
Hi Paula You asked: Fuel quotes actually doubled the tour price. Is this reasonable? Yes it is reasonable. The distances are enormous. Here are all the figures you need to calculate the cost. 520,000 Togrog / 1400TogrogPerDollar = $371 A cheap jeep might cost $40 per day As you can see the jeep cost and the gasoline cost are about the same. To reduce the price people find trip partners to share the cost. See the ToMongolia Tour Operator page for more calculations. The figure you have of 300km will get you only half way to the popular spots in the Gobi Dan | 4
All, Thanks so much for the info. Dan: appreciate the math. Will definitely be sharing. Cheers, | 5
