Passports

Country forums / North-East Asia / South Korea

My girlfriend and I are going to South Korea from 13th of August to the 27th thisbyear. We are both irish. Her passport runs out in October. What I want to know is will we be let into the country or does South Korea insist on having 6 months remaining on your passport like many other countries?????

there is still a month to your trip, so there should be plenty of time to renew her passport.

anyway, http://www.frommers.com/destinations/southkorea/3863020032.html
"The government requires that passports be good for 6 months past your date of arrival, so make sure your passport is up-to-date."

I don't know about Ireland, but a UK passport renewed before it expires gets the non-used period attached.
e.g., if you renew your passport 39 days before it expires, the new passport is valid fro 10 years and 39 days.
Up to a maximum limit...
