One night only (i Hong Kong)

Country forums / North-East Asia / China

Hi,

I've got a night in Hong Kong on my way to Australia and was looking for some advice. I arrive in HK at about 6pm and leave the next morning at 9am. I'd like to get a chance to see some of the city whilst I can. Can anyone recommend an area that I should stay (and perhaps a hotel)? Also, is it easy to get to and from the airport?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

What's your budget?

See Chas Kemp HK page / guide for some advice.

Very easy to get anywhere in Hong Kong from the airport using the airport buses.

i would recommend on of the guesthouses that can be found on nathan road in kowloon, e.g. chunking mansion.
these are big mansions filled with cheap, clean, but very small guesthouses. the place looks a bit strange, but its great and in the center of kowloon. take the metro to tsim shat sui. you dont have to book in advance as there are plenty of places to stay in these mansions!
have fun!

Hi, thanks heaps for the replies. Very helpful. Considering I'm only in town for the night, and that I'll have come off a fairly long flight, I thought that I might stretch the budget and stay somewhere a bit nicer than usual. Does anyone have any tips on good 4 -5 star hotels. I realise that this might be against the LP travelling ethos, but sometimes you gotta splurge...

If you have two or three hundred dollars to spend (or more), Hong Kong has some of the best 5 stars in the world to satisfy you.

Try the Peninsula or the Four Seasons.
