The Tsz Shan Monastery, funded by Li Ka-shing, will be opening in Hong Kong April 15. It's near Tai Po up in the New Territories, and houses the world's second-largest statue of Guan Yin. No tour groups are permitted and advance reservations are required.

(Don't forget to read the comments on the SCMP article. E.g., "This is absolutely disgusting! Only in Hong Kong does a tycoon get permission to destroy 500,000 sq ft of our precious national park in the Tung Tse hills. A big chunk of our green belt for a kitsch temple with only the 'second highest' statue of goddess Kwun Yum.")
