Mongolia to Kazakhstan

Country forums / North-East Asia / Mongolia

We are palnning a trip from Moscow to Dushanbe starting in June (Russia - Mongolia - China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Tajikistan) and have recently decided to skip the china leg of our trip, since we were only intending to travel through quickly between Mongolia and CA we feel rather disinclined to jump through the hoops (flight and hotel bookings etc)now required to get the visa.

The most logical solution is to fly Olgii to Ust Kemenogorsk on Scat however I read on line today temporarily cancelled that these flights are not running at the moment, is this due to low passenger numbers in the Winter / Spring seasons or is this likely to be a more permanent situation.

Thanks

These flights have been cancelled off and on for several years. You might want to write to Valentina or to David B. at stantour.com for updated information.

Use a visa service that specializes in Chinese visas and you won't have to make reservations and flight bookings. A company like realrussia.co.uk should be able to help with all three visas.

Hi Jeraboa

SCAT airlines is facing some problems.

For now (April 2012) EZNIS airways took over these flights.

By the end of 2012 a new flight route between the two countries will start operating by ASTANA airlines together with SCAT airlines (both Kazakh airlines). The schedules will be published later this year.

You can also travel by road viaRussia

Flight schedules in this region change frequently.

Check the following links close to the time of your flight.
EZNIS International schedule for the next few weeks - today showing the relevant April 2012 flights.
AIR ASTANA - will show the schedules by the end of 2012.

We also are planning to travel from West Mongolia to Kazakhstan via China in the beginning of July, passing through the new-opened western border in Bulgan. The problem is that in the Chinese Embassy today they denied us the Visa because in our itinerary we put Urumqi, due to the fact that it's a sensitive area...

Reapply and don't mention Urumqi or Xinjiang.
