Koyasan suggestionsCountry forums / North-East Asia / Japan
We are visiting Koyasan in august (from Osaka). We hope that the train is going to be fixed by that time. So we expect to arrive around 10.30am. We have a booked a night in Eko in. A basic plan would be: 1) The day we arrive visit Danjo Garan complex and Kongobu-ji. 2) Next day after breakfast, I would repeat Okuno again in daylight. Two simple questions: My point is if we can count on the second day evening to visit something in Kyoto or Osaka or on the contrary Koyasan have plenty of distinct sights for this second day and we should spend there more time. Just a question to have a rough idea. Thanks a lot!
Hello, When you say Okuno cemetary in night tour, is it organized through the hotel? Otherwised, when I was there last April, it seemed life was extinguished at night in Koya-San. I'd count at least 3 hours for the Okuno walk, if you don't want to rush it. I don't know if it is worth doing it twice in a row, but I'd at least do it in day time, yes, I guess you might miss interesting sights at night time, depending on how well it is lit. The Danjo Garan complex will take you a couple hours. Have a good time, ps: if you'd like more info & pics, here's what I wrote about it | 1
Thanks a lot! Well, the night tour is not that long and they bring you to your temple by car (from 19.15 to 20.30). Not firmly decided anyway. It will depend on our energies but I agree that visit it twice the same day could be too much... | 2
