Japan questions

Me and my girlfriend will go to japan in august for 3 weeks . I have a few questions:

1. is it possible to check in a business hotel or hostel (single) room with 2 persons for the same rate as one ?
2. do we need advance reservations for ccomodation in japan for august ?
3. what is the price for cigarettes in japan

1. It depends, but in my experience, usually not. It might be easier at ryokans run by families, though. Theyre usually more relaxed. <BR><BR>2. Where in Japan? Its a bit iffy, especially if your trip coincides with the obon festival (mid August).
   
   3. Usually around ��350, depending on the brand (this is from when I was there last, in January).

1. If the business hotel is a disguised "love hotel", no problem as price is by the room. Otherwise, they will try to sell you two single rooms, a double room or charge you "single room double usage" at check-in.
