Country forums / North-East Asia / South Korea

Hi chaps,

Will travel to South Korea for the first time this summer and would like to be helped build my itinerary.

This is what I came up with but I am certainly keen to change it if you think I should:

day 1) morning flight from Fukuoka to Jeju
2)Jeju
3)Jeju
3)late morning flight to Busan
4)Busan
5)Busan
6)Busan. In the evening by train or bus to Gyeongju
7)Gyeongju
8)Gyeongju
9)In the morning by train or bus to Daegu
10)Daegu
11)In the morning bus to Andong
12)Andong-Hahoe-Andong. Late afternoon bus to Suwon
13) Suwon in the morning, then to Seoul by train
14,15,16,17) Seoul
18) in the morning flight to Europe

any comments welcome

Other info I'd like to get:

-will I be able to buy local sim cards and/or wifi eggs at jeju airport?
-have you ever used the taekbae system to forward your luggage from a place to another? (more or less what they use in Japan). if yes, do they do next-day deliveries? and are they reliable?

Many thanks in advance

Bert

What attracts you to Daegu?

1

its proximity to haeinsa and andong/hahoe

2

thank you all, in particular to shelemm for the invaluable help provided.

So here is my take on Korean temples, including Haeinsa: they are very simple places, and I don't even like the way many have been redone on the interior. I do not recommend going out of your way, in general, unless they are in a spectacular setting. For the effort you'll take, you may be better off devoting more time to Busan or Gyeongju.
