Help in Chengdu

Hello,
Ill be ariving in Chengdu around the 20th October. Can anyone recommend a good place to organise permits and a train ticket to Lhasa. We're going to try and do our own thing, although I ve read all the advice on the Thorntree. I found a website for a cosy Tim. Theres lots of info there, has anyone used these guys?If so, can you recommend them? Thanks in advance.

Sim's Cozy Guesthouse is a good place to start in getting train tickets and permits to go to Lhasa. They are well known on this forum. I highly recommend them. Holly Hostel is another place I have been hearing good things about concerning permits and train tickets from Chengdu.

we used Sims in April but due to time restraints, we started arranging things weeks before we left. They were just able to get train tickets 4 days before we took the train ( later than our preferred travel date) and then we had to take soft sleeper.

We are at Sim's right now and have had a great experience organizing all of our Tibet stuff, as well as other things. Highly recommend them!
